Hyderabad vs Lucknow on May 8

Two teams who are in the race for the playoffs face each other in a must-win game of the Indian Premier League 2024 season. The match on Wednesday is between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad are coming into the game on Monday after their huge loss to Mumbai Indians. The loss meant that SRH stayed in fourth position in the table with three more matches left to play in the campaign. They will move back to their home confines, where they will get amazing support from their fans. Lucknow Super Giants are also coming on the back of a huge 98-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in their last match. This has left KL Rahul and his side in the 5th place in the IPL table, needing to win their next few matches with Delhi Capitals hot on their tails.

Best economical pick – If there is one batter who has been consistent for the SRH side and been earning huge plaudits its none other than Abhishek Sharma. The 23-year-old has been at the forefront of giving Hyderabad great starts with the bat.

Top captains & vice captains – Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Travis Head could be the best batter in the upcoming game against Lucknow Super Giants. With 444 runs in his last 10 matches, Head is one of the highest run-getters of the tournament and his performance will be crucial against LSG. Head has already scored three half-centuries and one century in this season of IPL. Notwithstanding his failure in the last game versus KKR, Nicholas Pooran has been a key player for LSG this year. The left-handed batter from West Indies has been a constant threat with the bat especially in the middle-overs for the opposition.

Smart pick – Australian star Pat Cummins was one of the leading lights for his side in the loss to Mumbai Indians. His 35 not out and the wicket of Rohit Sharma nearly pulled off a win. SRH will hope that Pat Cummins can keep his form going and take the team into the final week of the tournament.

Cautious Pick – Right-arm pacer Yash Thakur has struggled with his economy in the last few games. His fifer has become a thing of the past and teams now have been targeting the pacer from Vidarbha to put pressure on LSG.

My XI – Travis Head (Captain), Nicholas Pooran (Vice-Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Pat Cummins, KL Rahul, Heinrich Klassen, Marcus Stoinis, Bhuvneswar Kumar, T Natrajan, Krunal Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy
